| Which Boot Is Right For You? The Boa Horse Boot™, Easyboot®, Easyboot® Epic™, Easyboot® Bare™, Old Mac's and Old Mac’s G2 ™ are all designed to be used as alternatives to metal horseshoes. They all provide excellent hoof protection for both occasional and everyday riding, but can also be used in the correction and treatment of founder, navicular disease, punctures, abscesses, bruises, contracted heels and other impact caused injuries. In addition, they provide protection during trailering, breeding and are a quick fix for the occasional lost shoe. - The advantages of the Boa Horse Boot and Old Mac’s are ease of application and removal. Boa Horse Boots and Old Mac’s will also stay on when fitted to the abnormal shaped hoof.
- Although Easyboots are more challenging to apply and remove, all portions of the boot fit below the hairline and eliminate rubbing on extended rides.
- The Easyboot® Epic™ was introduced in 2005. The Easyboot Epic is essentially the Easyboot with Easyboot Gaiter attached. The Easyboot Epic is ideal for the barefoot horse, muddy conditions or for a horse who is difficult to keep booted.
- The Easyboot® Bare is new for 2006. The Bare is a close fitting boot perfect for the barefoot horse and long distance rider.
- The EasySoaker is the best choice for holding medication and soaking.

- Potential Rubbing with the Boa Horse Boot and Old Mac’s:
- The Old Mac’s Hoof Boot works best when fitted with a Pastern Wrap. The Pastern Wrap minimizes the chances of rubbing in all conditions.
- The Boa Horse Boot works best when fitted with a Boa Gaiter. The Boa Gaiter minimizes the chances of rubbing in all conditions.
- The Boa Horse Boot and the Old Mac’s have similar recommended uses. Here's some quick tips when deciding between the Boa Horse Boot and Old Mac’s:
- The Boa Horse Boot and Old Mac’s Hoof Boots are both quick and easy to fit.
- If you are having a hard time deciding between an Old Mac’s and a Boa Horse Boot consider the following:
- Old Mac’s have a more aggressive tread pattern and will provide better traction in mud or wet grass. Although the tread is more aggressive, it wears more quickly than the tread of the Boa.
- If your horse’s feet are short and wide, an Old Mac’s is a better choice.
- Boa Horse Boots are better for horse’s feet that are slightly longer than wider.
- Endurance riding or rides of extended length or time:
- Although the Boa Horse Boot and Old Mac’s Horse boots have been successfully used for endurance-type distances, EasyCare does not recommend either of these boots if used more than 25 miles per week or per ride. Without due diligence in use, the Old Mac’s and Boa Horse Boot can cause rubbing above the hairline.
